All of our movement specialists are comprehensively trained in Pilates through Balanced Body, a leading Pilates education company known and respected world-wide. Our teachers have a depth of experience which goes back more than twenty-five years. Pilates uses breath, core control and flexibility training to get the results of improved alignment and posture, ease of movement, improved biomechanics and functional strength. Pilates was invented by Joseph Pilates who brought his method from Germany to New York City in 1926. Well trained and experienced Pilates teachers have been sought-after movement coaches for more than 50 years. Our teachers hold the coveted title of Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT). Studio B offers private and group sessions utilizing the equipment designed by Joseph Pilates. The Pilates Reformer is one such piece which works with spring resistance to create equal and opposite force at both ends of the body to create axial elongation and muscular tensegrity.
Amy Beversdorf, studio owner, is a Graduate Laban Certified Movement Analyst (GLCMA), a two-year graduate certificate program through Columbia College Chicago. Laban Movement Analysis is a system for understanding movement and it's connection between body and mind. Invented by Rudolf von Laban, this practice is designed to improve movement and understand non-verbal communication through the lens of spatial patterns, effort and energetic quality, and postural shape change. Bartenieff Fundamentals, lives within the field of Laban Movement Analysis. Irmgard Bartenieff was a physical therapist and student of Rudolf von Laban's. She developed of a framework for teaching biomechanics by using the body's natural patterns of connectivity which follow the body's fascial network.

The Bodhi Suspension System takes Pilates off the mat and into gravity. Unlike any other rope suspension system, Bodhi has two independent ropes and four suspension points. Four suspension points gives you a lot more variety – with varying degrees of difficulty. Not only will Bodhi challenge your core strength, it also provides balance and flexibility training like no other system. Your can suspend your entire body!
Balanced Body Barre combines elements of ballet technique and Pilates movement principles to provide an energizing workout that strengthens, stretches, and tones the whole body. Class is set to music and participants can plan to work up a sweat, targeting the muscles of the core, legs, and arms. Dance experience is NOT necessary!
"Amy Beversdorf created a positive environment that faciliated lots of growth. As a dancer, I have already noticed in my own personal training a new depth of sensitivity and understanding of my body within and outside of Pilates classes. Additionally, I have a new excitement about the human body and its potential."
